Henri Cartier-Bresson (1908-2004)While we might find nothing unusual today in the spontaneity of this scene, 100 years ago photographs were still very carefully and formally posed. Henri Cartier-Bresson’s genius lay instead in “capturing the moment” in photographs that themselves are elegant, deceptively simple compositions. Cartier-Bresson was a French photographer who helped invent modern photojournalism. He was an early user of the 35mm film format, which dominated professional photography as the preferred medium for most of the 20th century. Image Credit
